Ergo clears are my favorite tactile switches and I have been on the hunt for a cheaper alternative wherein I won’t have to buy the switches and springs separately.
In that regard the Skies are superb; The 62g variant is nicely tactile with a very snappy upstroke (possibly my fav aspect of this switch).
However, there is some housing wobble so switch filming is encouraged (I always switch film regardless). Moreover, there is noticeable Stem wobble which can’t be fixed with switch film regardless of the switch.
Good news is that outemu sells tight top housings (no slot top) that negate the need for films, while at the same time vastly reducing stem wobble in both Front/Back and side/side directions. The downside is a higher pitched upstroke but this is easily controlled by applying lube in the correct areas.
In short – despite my misgivings, I absolutely LOVE LOVE this switch. I prefer these to Durock Koalas, which I got in last week after paying express shipping from China, and those cost 3 times what I paid for the Skies. Kinda feel jebaited after paying too much after buying into hype, wish I just got more skies instead!
TLDR: This shit slaps yo

This is a pretty good switch with a good tactile bump right at the top of the stroke. The bump isn’t as pronounced as something like the Boba U4T and the tolerances are a little more, uh, carefree.. But if you’re looking for a good tactile with a bump that is there but not insane and you don’t mind some stem wobble, this is a great switch. If the Boba U4T didn’t exist this would be in my keyboard (and it was for a while).
I can’t comment on the noises of the switch b/c it’s not something I care about so long as it doesn’t sound like a squeaky old mattress.
